The Role
Reporting to VP,
Commercial Risk, or Commercial Credit Adjudicator II will play a key role in
supporting responsible credit decisions for our commercial and small business
members. This position is responsible for independently assessing and approving
complex and large commercial credit applications within delegated authority
(DLA), ensuring alignment with the credit union’s policies, procedures,
guidelines, risk appetite and cooperative values. Your judgment and financial
expertise will support the growth of healthy, sustainable business lending
relationships.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adjudicate
commercial credit applications, including new loans, annual reviews, and
amendments, within assigned approval limits.
- Conduct
thorough analysis of financial statements, cash flow, collateral, credit
history, and business risk factors.
- Evaluate
complex, high value or higher risk loan structures, including syndicated
loans and specialized credit and provide recommendations to enhance risk
mitigation while supporting member requirements and success.
- Communicate
credit decisions clearly and constructively to commercial account managers
and other internal stakeholders.
- Maintain
a thorough knowledge of the policies and guidelines regarding commercial
lending.
- Assist
VP, Commercial Risk towards overall risk management of the Commercial Loan
Portfolio.
- Ensure
compliance with internal credit policies, guidelines, procedures,
regulatory requirements and cooperative principles.
- Identify
and escalate complex or high-risk applications for further review or
approval as required.
- Provide
mentorship and review work of other commercial credit adjudicators on the
team.
- Participate
in periodic credit reviews, risk rating assessments, and portfolio
monitoring activities.
- Participate
in portfolio stress testing to support regulatory requirements in
partnership with the finance team.
- Contribute
to ongoing improvements in adjudication practices and credit policy/guideline
development.
- Provide
guidance and support to frontline staff on credit structuring,
underwriting and policy interpretation.
- Maintain
accurate documentation and rationale for all credit decisions.
- Stay
current with general economic indicators, industry trends/market
conditions and apply these knowledges to assess overall credit risk.
- Other
duties and tasks assigned by VP, Commercial Risk.
This position is for an existing vacancy within our team.
What we are
looking for
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Post-graduate
degree or other related designation (MBA, CFA, FRM, CA etc.) is preferred but
will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and
experience.
- Minimum
5-7 years of experience in commercial lending, adjudication, or credit
risk. Previous experience in credit adjudication is preferred.
- Strong
knowledge of commercial credit principles, loan products, syndications, financial
statement analysis, and risk assessment techniques.
- Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong
communication skills with the ability to convey decisions in a clear,
respectful, and constructive manner.
- Proficiency
with financial analysis tools and loan adjudication systems.
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $92,000 – $102,000
The compensation offered to
the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s
relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our
total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
