JOB
SUMMARY:
The Commercial lending Analyst is responsible
assessing and underwriting commercial lending transactions. The incumbent will
contribute to YNCU’s Commercial Lending profitability and growth by assisting
in the ongoing management of a diverse portfolio of mid-market business
relationships. The incumbent will support the Commercial Lending team in
analysis, credit application write-up, portfolio management, and business
development activities on a day-to-day basis including site visits as required.
DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with assessment of financing proposals, due diligence, research and credit applications, and make recommendations that adhere to YNCU’s policies and risk guidelines
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to facilitate the on-going management of credit facilities
- Conduct credit reviews of existing Members and maintain annual reviews/renewals at or below targeted levels
- Communicate with Commercial Lending clients on a day-to-day basis, responding to questions and inquiries regarding products, services and advice
- Assist with portfolio management duties and other day-to-day duties
- Research and analyze market segments. Monitor market conditions and trends to assess risk
- Collect and compile information and analyze financial statements to assess credit worthiness
- Provide sound recommendations and justifications for credit proposals in light with detailed financial, business and credit analysis
- Work closely with the Director, Commercial Lending generate quality of business and achieving expected revenue and growth targets
- Ensure all commercial files are reviewed on a regular schedule and that all required documentation is in order; review loan risk and make short and long term recommendations on files posing potential risk problems
- Provide excellent client service to internal and external
parties
- Be aware of enterprise risk management issues as they relate
to Lending Services and bring forward strategic and risk issues for
discussion, review and solutions to the Director, Commercial Lending
- Stay current with general economic indicators and industry
sector trends
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures as
they pertain to the operations of Lending Services
- Abide by YNCU policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and
practice
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of previous commercial lending experience
- Post secondary diploma, degree and/or certification in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting or a related program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to understand and analyze financial statements
- Prior sales and service experience within the financial services industry and a general knowledge of available products & services
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable available vehicle
- Must be bondable
