The Role
The Compliance Specialist will work
collaboratively with the Compliance Manager to maintain, continuously improve,
implement, and monitor the Credit Unions AML/PCMLTFA/Compliance programs and
projects as directed.
- Reviewing daily transactions for unusual patterns, conducting preliminary investigations, using sound judgement for risk levels and required reporting and escalating unusual patterns to the Compliance team.
- Conducting Know Your Client (KYC) checks and implementing enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients, and participating in periodic risk assessments to understand client risk.
- Ensuring the organization's AML/ATF program adheres to all applicable laws and regulations, e.g. FINTRAC’s PCMLTFA
- Preparing and submitting various reports to regulators, such as Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Electronic Funds Transfer Reports (EFTR)
- Assisting in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of AML/ATF program policies, procedures, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Utilizing risk assessment tools and software (Navaera, Central1),and assisting with the implementation and testing of AML system enhancements.
- Ability to identify high-risk scenarios and unusual transactional patterns
- In-depth understanding of FINTRAC regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate findings and compliance requirements
- Other duties as assigned
This position is for an existing vacancy within our team.
What we are
looking for:
- Post-secondary degree in business or a related field with one (1) plus years of related experience in risk management is required and overall experience of two (2) plus years is preferred.
- Knowledge of financial services industry considered an asset
- Strong analytical/statistical skills with a high degree of knowledge using spreadsheet software (Excel).
- Well-developed writing skills, sufficient to prepare material involving interpretation, analysis, assessment and reports
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior customer service ability
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $59,000-$64,000
The compensation offered to
the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s
relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our
total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
