The Role
The Director, Commercial Sales leads the commercial sales
team at Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU). As the strategic leader, the
Director, Commercial Sales will be responsible for driving growth while
ensuring a strong focus on member retention, deepening relationships, enhancing
member experience and loyalty and maintaining profitability across the
commercial portfolio.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales and Advice
- Providing financial
product sales and advice to commercial members to support them in
achieving their corporate and financial goals, improving their overall
financial wellbeing and the sustainability of YNCU.
- Proactively
identify and pursue new sources of business by establishing and
maintaining a network of key contacts withing the community.
- Manage the growth of assets and on-going maintenance of the Commercial portfolio by sourcing, investigating, analyzing and recommending actions and products from a variety of sources including brokers, branch referrals, existing account management and other outside referral sources.
Strategy
Development and Planning
- Developing and
contributing to annual operating plans for Commercial banking and
overseeing effective implementation and execution.
- Identify business
sectors with strong growth potential, or conversely deteriorating
patterns, to ensure the portfolio is proactively managed to maintain a
high level of quality and to stay within industry concentration policy.
- Maintaining a key
focus on initiatives which build and sustain an effective pipeline of
lending and deposits to meet annual operating plan objectives.
- Ensuring effective
member referral strategies to fully optimize member value and deepen
relationships across business lines
Member Experience and Loyalty
- Lead the team to
build strong relationships with existing members and seek opportunities to
build new relationships through networking and referrals.
- Manage key (or high
valued) member relationships while delivering YNCU products and services
to both existing and new commercial members by assessing their individual
needs and identifying appropriate solutions.
- Proactively
identifying potential member experience issues and help ensure timely
implementation of solutions. Respond to member concerns, complaints and
issues.
Risk
and Compliance
- Assist in protecting the assets of the Credit Union in accordance with sound business and financial practices detailed by the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, as amended from time to time, the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario, YNCU policies and procedures and any other relevant legislation and/or regulations.
- Conduct credit analysis and complete due diligence and investigation of new lending opportunities within the guidelines outlined in policy and procedure.
- Prepare and present or approve, within authorized lending limits, detailed credit recommendations or product packages which include all appropriate supporting documentation, underwriting, risk analysis, adequate/appropriate pricing or fees and a clear, concise recommendation.
People
Leadership
- Providing
leadership and coaching to a team of direct reports to maximize sales,
member experience, business and community development, and operational
performance.
- Proactively
collaborating and engaging with other cross functional leaders to jointly
plan and execute enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Creating a
collaborative environment and supports a learning culture, including
professional development and coaching plans for all direct reports.
This position is for an existing vacancy within our team.
What we are
looking for
- Post secondary diploma, degree and/or certification in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Real Estate or a related program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years management experience in commercial lending.
- Expert working knowledge of commercial services including but not limited to experience in commercial underwriting, credit assessment and thorough understanding of legal requirements for commercial dealings.
- Demonstrated experience in recommending and/or approving commercial credit is essential.
- Working knowledge of general banking, sound management principles, best practices and commercial banking industry trends and conditions.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable available vehicle
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $125,000-$135,000
The compensation offered to
the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s
relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our
total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
