The Role
The Manager,
Accounting oversees and manages the accounting function including month end and
year end reporting, accounts payable and payroll. As a leader on the finance
team, the Manager, Accounting provides direction, leadership and coaching to
accounting staff as required and provides input into the respective performance
evaluation processes.
- Work
with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director, Finance in preparing
the annual audited financial statements
- Provide
accurate and timely reporting for the Credit Union’s mortgage
securitization portfolio
- Provide
input into the Credit Union’s annual budget, analyzes budget variances,
and completes a variety of monthly internal financial reports
- Act as a
liaison with auditors during the annual audit process
- Accounting
and required reporting supervision of both the NHA MBS and CHT CMB
securitization programs and for compliance with regulations
- Identify
inefficiencies and inaccuracies in current accounting practices and
procedures, develop corrective actions and implement improvements to meet
regulatory and legislative requirements
- Member
of ALCO Committee, review financial data at monthly meetings and ensure
accurate data is submitted to third party provider
- Identify
strategic and enterprise risk management issues for discussion, review and
solutions to the Director, Finance and the CFO
- Responsible
for completion of GL reconciliations and accuracy of GL balances

What we are looking for
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Economics and an accounting designation required (i.e. CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
- Five (5) years of experience in accounting/finance industry preferred
- Knowledge of financial services industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability
to develop reports and visually impactful presentations
- Well-developed
writing skills sufficient to prepare material involving interpretation,
analysis, assessment and reports
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable available vehicle
- Must be bondable
