The Role
The
Manager, Commercial Analysts will lead and manage a team of commercial analysts
who are assessing and monitoring a diverse portfolio of commercial loans. The
incumbent will also support the Commercial Lending team in analysis, credit
application write-up, portfolio management, and business development activities.
The Manager, Commercial Analysts, brings strong commercial credit knowledge and
sound judgement along with practical experience developing commercial credit
proposals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Day-to-day team management, including training, learning and development plans, performance management, coaching and workflow prioritization
- Own staffing and leadership: hire, onboard, motivate, and keep team informed of changes
Identify skills gaps and work with employees to build and implement personal developmental plans to help them be more effective and confident in their roles
- Proactively coach and develop team members to assist them in achieving individual and organizational goals
- Ensure adequate staff coverage to meet business requirements and cross-train team members as required
- Monitor and ensure commercial lending portfolio adheres to risk and policy guidelines and prepare/maintain reporting to executives.
- Support team members in conducting annual reviews of existing members and maintain annual reviews/renewals/delinquencies at or below targeted levels.
- Maintain and improve tracking systems to ensure timely completion of annual reviews.
Work closely with Risk team on portfolio performance and make recommendations on stress testing/watchlist management.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to facilitate the on-going management of credit facilities.
- Communicate with members on a day-to-day basis, responding to questions and inquiries regarding products, services and advice.
- Research and analyze market segments. Monitor market conditions and trends to assess risk.
- Oversee the collection and compilation of information required to monitor the commercial loan portfolio.
- Provide sound recommendations and justifications for credit proposals in light with detailed financial, business and credit analysis.
- Work closely with the VP, Business Services & Syndications to assess new business opportunities in order to achieve expected revenue and growth targets.
- Be aware of enterprise risk management
issues as they relate to Lending Services and bring forward strategic and
risk issues for discussion, review and solutions.
- Stay current with general economic
indicators and industry sector trends.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies
and procedures as they pertain to the operations of Lending Services

What we are
looking for
- 3+ years of previous commercial lending/analysis experience.
- Post secondary diploma, degree and/or certification in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting or a related program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to analyse large quantities of data using Microsoft Excel.
- KPI driven individual.
- Prior sales and service experience within the commercial lending industry and a general knowledge of available products & services.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required.
- People management experience a bonus.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable available vehicle.
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $72,000 - 82,000
The compensation offered to
the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s
relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our
total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
