The Role
The Senior
Manager, Agriculture Lending & Business Services is responsible for leading
and expanding YNCU's agriculture business through strategic growth,
relationship management, agricultural lending and portfolio leadership.
This
role will develop and execute YNCU's agriculture strategy with a focus on attracting new
agricultural members, growing lending, deepening existing relationships and
expanding YNCU's agriculture model. The successful candidate
will bring deep agricultural lending and account management experience, strong
credit and risk expertise, and a proven ability to develop new business and
build relationships within the agricultural community.
As
the agriculture team grows, this role will assume increasing responsibility for leading,
coaching and developing team members, while working
within the direction and strategic oversight of the Chief Commercial Officer.
This is a
highly visible, field-based role requiring regular day-to-day travel throughout
YNCU's market to meet members, prospects, agricultural businesses and community
partners.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic
Growth
- Develop and implement action plans and small business and agricultural business development tactics based on established sales strategies.
- Bring market intelligence and community insights back to YNCU to inform strategy and business development
Portfolio
Management
- Conduct regular relationship reviews to identify lending, deposit, cash management, wealth and other opportunities.
- Increase share of wallet and relationship depth across YNCU's broader financial services.
- Establish YNCU as a trusted and recognized financial partner within the agricultural community.
Industry
Knowledge
- Maintain strong knowledge of Ontario agriculture, including the unique financial, operating and sector-specific risks facing agricultural producers and businesses and translate these into actionable business strategies.
Relationship
Management
- Maintain a strong and visible presence and travel regularly throughout YNCU's market to meet members, prospects and community partners.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with agricultural producers, farm owners and agricultural businesses through prospecting, referrals, centres of influence, industry networks and community relationships.
- Maintain and contribute to strong business relationships with industry partners and third-party vendors such as POS, Merchant Services, etc.
- Represent YNCU at agricultural events, industry functions and community activities.
Credit
& Risk Management
- Structure and recommend complex agricultural credit facilities based on sound financial analysis, cash flow, collateral, repayment capacity and risk assessment.
- Ensure all small business and agricultural files are reviewed on a regular schedule and that all required documentation is in order; review loan risk and make short- and long-term recommendations on files posing potential risk problems
- Be aware of enterprise risk management issues as they relate to Lending Services and bring forward strategic and risk issues for discussion, review and solutions to the Chief Commercial Officer.

What we are
looking for:
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required
- Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Significant progressive experience in agricultural lending, commercial lending and agricultural account management.
- Deep experience managing complex agricultural lending relationships and portfolios.
- Strong experience in financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, credit structuring and portfolio management.
- Thorough understanding of Ontario agriculture and the unique financial and operating characteristics of agricultural businesses.
- Strong understanding of commercial and agricultural credit risk, regulatory requirements, lending policies and risk controls within a regulated financial institution.
- Demonstrated success in business development, portfolio growth and new member acquisition.
Previous leadership, coaching or people-development experience.
- Experience developing or implementing business or market development strategies.
- Agricultural, commercial lending or credit-related designations are considered an asset.
- Credit union or other regulated financial institution experience is preferred.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel regularly throughout YNCU's market.
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $110,000-120,000
The compensation offered to
the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s
relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our
total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
