We’re looking for a SEO and GEO Specialist to improve our visibility in AI search and optimize our exciting new website that we’re looking to launch later this year.

The Role
The Marketing and Digital teams are part of YNCU’s larger technology team. Acknowledging the direct connection between employee and member experience, we are responsible for supporting enterprise initiatives that guide our people in all aspects of work, business enablement, and performance while delivering strategies and initiatives to support our brand reputation, visibility, and enterprise level revenue driving activities.

In this role the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Generative AI Engine Optimization (GEO) Specialist will help to deliver exceptional member experiences, drive site performance, and elevate our marketing campaigns. Focusing on the technical aspects of search the SEO and GEO Specialist will optimize our website infrastructure for Google and AI-powered search and boost YNCU’s organic visibility, paid performance, and conduct ongoing site audits. The SEO and GEO Specialist will manage YNCU’s site architecture and structured data, schema markup, improve site speed, fix crawl errors, and prioritize mobile friendliness and help deliver a content and technical strategy for AI search (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Llama, etc.) focusing on direct answers, relevance, and context to rank in AI summaries.

  • Website Audits: Perform technical audits to identify crawl errors, broken links, and speed issues using tools like Screaming Frog and Google Search Console
  • Site Architecture: Optimize site structure, URL structure, and navigation for better crawlability and user experience
  • Performance Optimization: Improve page load times and core web vitals
  • Crawlability and Indexing: Manage sitemaps, robots.txt, and canonical tags to guide search engines
  • Structured Data: Implement schema markup (structured data) to enhance search results
  • Content Optimization: Audit existing content and guide new content creation to optimize for SEO and directly answer user queries for AI models (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Llama, Gemini)
  • Model Understanding: Research, understand, and report on how different generative models process information and rank results
  • Collaboration: Work with developers, content creators, and the marketing and digital teams to implement site changes and align strategies
  • Strategy Development: Help create strategies to make content highly visible and authoritative in AI-generated answers, focusing on user intent and context
  • Performance Monitoring: Track visibility and performance within AI search results, troubleshooting issues
  • Paid search: Provide insights and support paid search performance and optimization

Collaboration and leadership:

  • Act as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams, providing guidance on SEO, AI search, content, and visibility best practices
  • Manage relationships with agencies, vendors, and external partners to support AI and SEO initiatives
  • Contribute to a culture of experimentation, learning, and continuous growth

What we are looking for

  •  5+ years of experience in search optimization
  • Demonstrated success building organic visibility strategies and improving SEO performance
  • Proficient with SEO/GEO tools and analytics and marketing automation/CRM platforms
  • Exceptional verbal skills with the ability to coach and communicate value
  • Highly organized, data-driven thinker with strong project management abilities
  • Deep understanding of search engine algorithms (Google, Bing, etc.)
  • Proficiency with SEO tools (Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, SEMrush)
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and diagnose issues
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and server/hosting configurations
  • Familiarity with various headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Craft, etc.) 
  • Strong understanding of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant AI/ML (machine learning) frameworks
  • Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Must be bondable

Salary range: $73,000 - $83,000
The compensation offered to the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
